"Mladost" Sports center, Varna
"Mladost" Sports center, Varna is in an estate with a total area of 37 860,00 sq m, in the place of a sports facility built over 40 years ago. The new complex will include a track and field stadium, open air sports grounds and facilities, as well as a service building, situated in the northern part of the estate. The main access point of the complex is to the north, via Tzar Osvoboditel Blvd, and the alleys connecting the estate with Republica Blvd to the east, will function as service access points.
The PRELIMINARY DESIGN is for the construction of an integrated socially-oriented complex, which includes a sports and recreation center and connected service and commercial zones as follows:
- TRACK AND FIELD STADIUM
- OTHER OPEN AIR SPORTS GROUNDS AND FACILITIES
- SERVICE BUILDING
- OPEN AIR CAR PARK AND GREEN AREAS
TRACK AND FIELD STADIUM
Situated in the southern part of the estate and primarily north-west - south-east oriented, the new track and field stadium meets all requirements of the International Association of Athletic Federation for a category 5 stadium, which allows for local international competitions (Balkaniads) to be organized, as well as national track and field competitions and football training matches. The stadium comprises the following:
- an 8 lane track with artificial surface and adjoining short distance running facilities, both with and without hurdles (incl. water hurdles);
- grass field with dimensions 105,00/68,00m.;
- zones for the setup of facilities for hammer throwing (3), shot put (3 + 1 for training off the grass field), javelin throw (2);
- zones for the setup of facilities for pole vault (2), high jump (1), long jump (1), triple jump (1);
- marathon gate
The surface of the tracks will be artificial and IAAF certified. The size, radius, length and incline of the tracks are standard.
The grass field is equipped with the necessary drainage and irrigation systems.
Plans include the required zones and facilities for referee stations, zones for TV cameras, photographer zones, interaction zones for interviewing competitors. The project includes artificial lighting, in compliance with international competition norms and requirements for their televising, as well as a sound system.
OPEN AIR SPORTS GROUNDS AND FACILITIES
To the east and south of the track and field stadium there are two multifunctional sports grounds with artificial surfaces and the required category 5 warm-up and preparation zones. Plans include lighting and sound systems for this area.
SERVICE BUILDING
Situated just next to the stadium, to the north, the service building is functionally divided as follows:
1. BASIC SERVICING AND SUPPORTING PREMISES FOR THE TRACK AND FIELD STADIUM
2. HOTEL SECTION
3. OFFICE SECTION
4. COMMERCIAL ZONE
5. CHILDCARE CENTER
6. PUBLIC CAR PARK
The main service premises for the track and field stadium are designed not only to provide the necessary conditions for all participants and spectators during events and training but also to allow for all sports facilities to be used by the public as a means of practicing popular sport outside any competition and training programs.
