New passenger terminals at Varna and Bourgas International Airports
Technoimportexport, in a consortium with the Turkish company “IC Ictas”, after winning a public procurement, signed an EPC contract with “Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” JSC for the construction of the New Passenger Terminal Areas at Varna and Bourgas International Airports and launched the construction in December 2011.
Since the summer season in 2013 the guests of Varna are welcomed in and sent from the new terminal and the new terminal in Bourgas was finished shortly afterwards.
The new passenger terminals at the sea airports have large areas for arriving and departing passengers, state of the art passenger service systems, modern retail areas and spacious open spaces.
NPT Varna: The project “New International Passenger Terminal in Varna Airport” is designed in accordance with an approved plan. The terminal building is located in Parcel I 14.28, square 3 on the territory of the airport complex in Varna. Parcel I 14.28 has been zoned for “Passenger terminal, commercial area, checkpoint, temporary service buildings, planting, parkings and technical infrastructure” and has an area of 58 920 square meters.
Luggage belts – 2 for small narrowly - fuselaged planes, and 1 for average widely - fuselaged planes.
For this project Consortium “TIE-Ictas” took the prestigious award “Building of the Year 2013” - precisely in category “Urban Environment Transport Infrastructure”.
NPT Bourgas: The project “New International Passenger Terminal in Bourgas Airport” is designed in accordance with an approved plan and includes 3 independent parcels: Parcel II27, square 2; Parcel I17,18, square 6; Parcel I27, square 7. The building of the passenger terminal is located in Parcel II27, square 2 (area 38,971 sq. m.) The parkings are located in Parcel I17,18, square 6 (area 12,244 sq. m) and Parcel I27, square 7 (area 7,057 sq. m).
Design capacity of the new terminal in Burgas is 2.7 million passengers. According to the envisaged for 2015 passengers per hour peak and the required level of service “C” class of IATA, are provided the following posts in the channels of service:
• Check-in desks – 30+1 for extra baggage;
• Scanners for cabin baggage checks – 8+1;
• Passport kiosks for emigration – 10;
• Exits/halls for departure – 8;
• Passport kiosks for immigration – 10;
• Luggage belts – 3 for small narrowly-fuselaged planes, and 1 for average widely-fuselaged planes.
